Changing dictionary-form to ます form.
The following are the rules for the 3 groups of Japanese verbs.
Group 01 Verbs
Always end up with words containing u-sound. To change group 01 verbs to ます form, change the u-sound to i-sound in the last word. And that append ます to the changed word. For example, ある end up with る (ru). Change the u-form to i-sound, る(ru) to り(ri). ある change to あります
example:
| Root form | masu form | |
| かう | かいます | buy |
| のむ | のみます | drink |
| のる | のります | ride |
| いく | いきます | go |
| かく | かきます | write |
